Light and Dark of Writing

Catholics are christian.  And this Christian cried for a Muslim yesterday.

My intention for this blog was to be light.  Write about subjects that interested me and hopefully interest the readers.  But when Benazir Bhutto died this blog took a turn.

To me it is reading a bit dark. That might be good.  Being a human that looks at the world through the window of the Internet and television, you can't help but be moved by events that you know will change the course of history.  I know I can't help it. I write what I feel and see.

Benazir Bhutto was somebody I had never met.  I admired her.  She had the strength to change ideas.  I knew when the report came over Yahoo, when I was checking the e-mail, that history had just changed.  The world has a power vacuum in it now, she held some power. Without her ideas, it will let others rise to take her place.  Those ideas might be different that hers, they might be the same.

Well, I am going to wrap this up.  I will be writing more on Monday, hopefully on a lighter note.  Thank you for reading.

Benazir Bhutto

A light that shown on the world stage was murdered today.  This senseless killing by a suicide attacker happened in Pakistan.  This world leader spoke for her people.  She fought opposing forces in Pakistan to gain freedoms for her people. She was a woman to be proud of.

Anybody can disagree with politics.  Anybody can strap a bomb on their body to make a political point.  Others can kill and then hope to be killed. But why?  The killing does not solve the problems.  The bombs and death do not keep others from what they want to think and do.

May god bless Benazir Bhutto. A world leader.  A woman to be proud of, she is now in heaven.

A time to play

Adults need to play.  We need to go out and skateboard if we so chose.  We need to jump rope.  Adults need to be able to do what they want to do with out the worry of Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Smith, or "MS. Grundy" stating that they cannot do something.

People have forgotten about play.  We work, we "relax", we do what needs to be done to teach our children, but adults don't just play.  This is reflecting on our children since play is scheduled now and recess is non-existent.

I buy Lego's for my husband, because he likes Lego's but we store them in my son's bedroom.  Most of the Lego's are for my son but my husband's are hidden.  I love my video games.  I play them as much as I can. I would go out to the playground and swing if they made an adult playground, that would be my exercise.  Going to the gym is boring.  Plus, there are not many adult organized sports unless you go professional.  So, what do adults do to just play?

We need physical activity for our health, but with other adults putting people down when you see an adult play, eventually nobody plays.

Now for the proposal; we need to make a national day for play.  Or we could call the day, do what you want day with out harming yourself or others.  On that day, adult women would stop looking down their noses at the men and women who do want to play.  There would be no more of "your an adult grow up", on that day.

I know this will never happen.  We strive to become adults when we are children.  Does adulthood have to be so boring and depressing?  WE adults make adulthood stressful and boring.  Why not make this simply change?

The post Christmas blahs

Sitting here at the computer I feel exhausted.  Many of the readers of this blog must feel that way too.  It is the post christmas let down.

I feel it every year.  The excitement of shopping for the gifts my children will be opening.  The planning of Christmas supper.  Getting the Christmas cards out on time.  Then when all is finished, on the day of Christmas, and seeing the ripped paper on the floor and the smiles on the faces of  the children, the work is finished.

The next day I wake up to the post Christmas mess.  I have to clean up the home, which I know everybody has to do.  There is no more planning and preparing.  There is no more wrapping of gifts and cooking.  And I feel a bit blue.

Yes, there is one more holiday less that a week away, New Years.  But the preparation for that holiday is not so elaborate. All my family normally does is rent some movies.  We eat chips and dip.  Then at 11:45pm, we turn the television to  Dick Clarks Rocking New Years Special to see the time square ball drop.  Then off to bed.   New Years is not that exciting for my family.

Christmas is a fun holiday.  The after Christmas I could do without.

Christmas Greetings!

Merry Christmas!  Take time to enjoy your family's.  Take time to reflect on what this holiday means.  Look up why this holiday is on December 25th, that is interesting history.  But most of all enjoy today!

I am making this blog short today, so I can do the same.  Thank you for reading.

Last Minute Shopping Idea

Today is the day for last minute shopping, be it on-line or going out to fight individuals at the mall for the perfect gift.  If on-line shopping today, use on-line gift cards.

I did for the first time this year.  To make a long story short, I do not have my sister's new address.  I have given presents to my sister and her daughter every year that I can, because it's a nice thing to do.  This presented a problem.

In the past, when I have been late giving gifts, I have fallen back on Fandango, and using Fandango Bucks.  This is a nice gift for movie lovers; it give an experience instead of stuff.

But I did not want to do that this year.  It's so predictable for me to give Fandango Bucks, so I went to walmart.com looking for a solution to my gift giving problem.  The solution presented itself simply with the solution of an on-line gift card.  Since I did have my sister's e-mail address, I purchased the card for a small amount of money, and sent the gift that day.

I feel on-line gift cards are safer than sending card through the mail because the chance of theft or loss is minimal.  Plus, someone cannot steal the number from the back of the on-line card.

If you are looking to save time and be able to send a gift today, long distance, look into on-line gift cards.  I did and I liked it!
