The post Christmas blahs

Sitting here at the computer I feel exhausted.  Many of the readers of this blog must feel that way too.  It is the post christmas let down.

I feel it every year.  The excitement of shopping for the gifts my children will be opening.  The planning of Christmas supper.  Getting the Christmas cards out on time.  Then when all is finished, on the day of Christmas, and seeing the ripped paper on the floor and the smiles on the faces of  the children, the work is finished.

The next day I wake up to the post Christmas mess.  I have to clean up the home, which I know everybody has to do.  There is no more planning and preparing.  There is no more wrapping of gifts and cooking.  And I feel a bit blue.

Yes, there is one more holiday less that a week away, New Years.  But the preparation for that holiday is not so elaborate. All my family normally does is rent some movies.  We eat chips and dip.  Then at 11:45pm, we turn the television to  Dick Clarks Rocking New Years Special to see the time square ball drop.  Then off to bed.   New Years is not that exciting for my family.

Christmas is a fun holiday.  The after Christmas I could do without.
